UIMSA Holds Day 2 of Hepatitis B Vaccination Drive

On Monday, 31st of July, 2023, the University of Ibadan Medical Students Association, in conjunction with the Alexander Brown Hall, hosted the second day of its Hepatitis B Vaccination Drive at the Jaja Clinic, University of Ibadan.

The Vaccination Drive was organised as part of activities to celebrate World Hepatitis Day held on June 28. It involved Hepatitis B vaccinations for UIMSAites, Brownites, and other interested individuals at a subsidized rate of 2,000 Naira per dose. The complete vaccination process requires completion of three doses and then booster shots to follow subsequently.

On arrival, students were screened for the virus; only those who tested negative proceeded to take numbers in order to receive the first dose. The second and third doses would be given at later dates indicated on the vaccination cards.

Speaking with the UIMSA Press, Abdulsalam Sodiq, a 200-Level UIMSAite present at the event, said ” Well, the program went well on a general note even though it started a bit late. About 23 turned up and it is far less than the expected number of 50 and above. It may be because many people are not on campus.”
