LIVE: “CMD has been summoned to Eleyele Police Headquarters. Wait for him” – Police to UItes as Protest Arrives in UCH

Following a two-hour occupation of the main road opposite the UCH Gate, protesting UItes have arrived at the Office of the Chief Medical Director, University College Hospital, Ibadan with one clear demand; “Give us light!”.

The students have occupied both gangways as well as the balcony in front of the CMD’s, Prof. Jesse Otegbayo, office. However, a report from Policemen at the scene is that the CMD is at the Eleyele Police Headquarters and that the protesting students should wait for him.

There are chants of “Solidarity forever!” as well as some calls for retribution towards as many as are responsible for the continuous blackout. “His AC (Air Conditioner) is on while we are suffering here”, one student said. Another added, “Are we asking for too much, sir? Just give us light”.

As of this report, there has been no response from the Hospital’s Management or the College of Medicine Administration.
