Jaw War: Rise of Legends Set for February 26th Grand Finale

The Literary and Debating Society, University of Ibadan (TLDS UI), has announced a new date, 26th February 2025, for the Jaw War: Rise of Legends Grand finale via a public statement signed by the TLDS President, Ogonna Okere, and General Secretary, Babatimehin Peace.

According to the statement, “This new date was decided following extensive deliberations to ensure a seamless and well-organised competition”. Students, staff, and members of the university community were encouraged to participate actively in the event.

The finale, originally set for January 8th 2025, was previously postponed in an announcement made by the President on the Society’s Senate WhatsApp platform on Saturday, 4th January 2025, citing a need to meet with the school management to secure the venue for the event (the International Conference Centre), UI Hotels for invited schools, and also the presence of principal officers of the university.

The Finals will feature a clash between the Faculties of Law and the Social Sciences in the Faculty Category, and the Queen Idia Hall and Lord Tedder Hall in the Hall Category. The traditional Inter-Varsity contest and Rookie Oratory Contest are also expected to take place. Further details concerning the competition are to be communicated in due course.
