UIMSAite Emerges Winner at Asido Inter-Hall Oratory Final

A 500 level UIMSAite, Precious Idaiye, representing the Alexander Brown Hall, has just emerged as the Winner at the Inter-Hall Oratory Contest Final of Asido Campus Network’s event tagged “Matters that Matter” at Trenchard Hall on the 30th of September, 2023.

He did so with a score of 78 points; ahead of representatives of the Obafemi Awolowo Hall, and Kenneth Mellanby Hall, who scored 70.7 and 70 points, to emerge second and third place, respectively.

Another UIMSAite, Ogunleye Moboluwarin of the 2k24 class, also participated in the final as a representative of the Great Independence Hall which came fourth, with the Sultan Bello Hall claiming fifth place.

Precious’ victory saw him walk home with a prize of Fifty Thousand Naira for his Hall as well as a plaque. Speaking with the UIMSA Press, he said, “I’m happy about the victory. The process that led to winning was really rigorous; from a lot of training and internalizing, to delivery, and gesticulation. So yeah, it was quite the rigorous process and I’m happy about the outcome”.

Asides the Inter-Hall Oratory Contest, the event also showcased a stage-play, as well as a panel session on mental health and a live painting segment. Notable personalities at the event include Dr. Demola Lewis, Dr. Olayinka Egbokhare, the Students’ Union President, Samson Tobiloba, SU Vice President, Nafisat Ogunsesan, UIMSA alumnus and former Alexander Brown Hall Press Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Titus Adekunle, among others.
