USA Lifts Ban on Electoral Activities, Swears-In Acting President

Via special releases circulated on Monday, December 2nd,  and Tuesday, December 3rd, 2024, the UCH Students’ Association (USA) has announced the lifting of the ban on electoral activities as well as the swearing-in of Miss Blessing Mordi as the Acting President.

The first release comes in the aftermath of the 4th Emergency Sitting of the USA Students Representative Council held on Sunday, 1st December 2024, at the USA Secretariat. According to the release, signed by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Omotayo Goodluck, “The Electoral process is to begin with immediate effect. Members can now purchase forms and begin campaigns for relevant positions of their choice in the Association”. The cost of the forms was made available in a separate release made via WhatsApp, today. 

The list of ratified members of the Electoral Commission was also made available. Miss Tiamiyu Rachael of the National Association of Nigerian Student Nurses and Midwives (NANSNM) UCH will serve as the Electoral Chairman. Positions are open to all USA members who meet the constitutional demands. 

Miss Blessing Mordi’s swearing-in, was announced in a joint release containing the resolutions of Sunday’s sitting. This is in line with Chapter 3 Article V Section 9 Subsection 10a of the USA Constitution.
