Inter-Faculty Games ’25.

Two sessions after the last Inter-Faculty Games, the office of the sports secretary of the University of Ibadan announced the commencement of this session’s Inter-Faculty Games.
18 Faculties are expected to participate in eight different sports, including football, basketball, athletics, snooker, table tennis, volleyball, chess, and scrabble. The eighteen faculties are; Faculty of Education, Clinical Sciences, Faculty of Science, Law, Faculty of Computing, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Renewable Natural Resources, Faculty of Environmental Design and Management, Veterinary Medicine, Basic Medical Sciences, Faculty of Technology, Public Health, Nursing, Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Economics, and the Faculty of Social Sciences.
In the press conference and draws held in the Student Representative Council chambers on the 1st of October, it was revealed that Basketball would be 3-on-3 half-court; Chess would involve two males and two females per faculty; Snooker, two players regardless of gender; Volleyball would involve ten males and ten females per faculty; and Table Tennis, two singles players each for male and female.
In athletics, the usual events will be featured. Each faculty is to present two male and two female athletes for the sprints, one each for the 800m, and four representatives for the relays. All athletics events will take place in a single day.
For football, the 18 male teams are allowed to have a squad of 20 players each, plus two coaches. The matches are to be played at the Old SUB pitch. A knockout format will first reduce the 18 male teams to nine before a group stage format comprising 3 teams each is adopted. Winners of each group, as well as the best-losing team, will then progress to the semi-final stages. While for female football, the usual five-a-side football will be played, hosted at the newly refurbished San Siro pitch (fka Indy Maracana). Faculties absent from fixtures will forfeit games via walkover.

Postgraduate students are permitted to compete without restrictions, while students from the Distance Learning Centre remain ineligible. The games begin tomorrow, Friday, the 3rd of October, 2025.
